Decks
View Gallery
A deck is the most basic extension of the home for outdoor living space. Decks range from the extremely simple rectangular shape constructed of all pressure-treated pine to multi-level masterpieces featuring composite decking and other low-maintenance materials, such as vinyl railings. Whatever your needs and desires, ANCHOR can design and create the deck for you. The following is a summary of our deck-building materials and products:
Decking (Flooring)
The most basic decking material is pressure-treated Southern Pine. We generally fasten wood decking with galvanized, ring-shanked nails, but stainless steel nails and coated screws are also available. During the past decade, composite decking such as Trex® has become increasingly popular. Like pressure-treated pine, this material is guaranteed against rot and termite damage, but unlike the pine, it will not warp, twist or crack, and there are no splinters, ever! As with composites, Trex® is a mixture of recycled plastic shavings and sawdust which are extruded into a number of standard lumber dimensions. The resulting solid board combines the best characteristics of both wood and plastic. Available in six attractive colors and several finishes to accent any home, Trex® carries an industry-leading 25 year non-prorated warranty. ANCHOR is Greenville's only certified TrexProGOLD™ having received instruction in the installation of the product and having had a number of our projects subjected to the scrutiny of the Trex® company. Other decking alternatives include PVC, cedar and, for those willing to make a sizeable investment, such exotic woods as Ipe (EE-pay) and Mahogany.

Railings
Just like decking boards, railings have a wide variety of available materials, starting with basic treated pine. Anchor is the authorized dealer in the Upstate for Tek-Rail® vinyl railings (ICC approved); this product is extremely low-maintenance, available in several heights, styles and colors, and has a strong warranty. Excellent for replacing those rotted, painted wood railings on your front porch, Tek-Rail™ is lightweight, attractive and very sturdy. Load-bearing PVC columns are available, as well, to make your porch's entire railing system permanently straight and beautiful (no more painting!). Anchor is also proud to feature DecKorators®, an innovative railing product utilizing aluminum balusters in several colors and styles, which, coupled with a wood or Trex® frame produces a "wrought-iron" look with none of the maintenance hassles. To add to your choices, Trex® has developed railing components to complement their high-quality line of decking products. Topping off your railing, you can choose from an endless variety of post caps featuring PVC, copper, composites and wood.

Options
Beyond your deck's floor and railing there are still many other functional and stylish features that you can include in your outdoor haven. Trellises, privacy walls and lattice skirting are just a few. Planning to place a hot tub on your new deck? No problem — we will augment your deck's framing to accommodate the additional (often VERY substantial) weight. How do you want your decking installed? It can be laid either parallel to the house or in a number of diagonal patterns. Regardless of your railing choice, you can add gates to protect little ones and pets around steps. If your deck is close enough to the ground, we can install an attractive and practical bench that provides seating and a border to the deck-all without disrupting your view. Want lighting? Consider some of our many safe low-voltage and solar-powered options. You can even enjoy a "campground fire experience" with fire pits designed to burn either LP or natural gas. Outdoor kitchens are also a favorite design feature of Anchor's deck projects. Call us today and find out how we can help you create your dream outdoor living space!
